Adopt a Chihuahua / Mixed (medium coat)

Pepe, 9, is a little shy but is warming up well in his new environment. He's super happy to be in a home and will even give you some tail wags to show it!  He loves bully sticks and any small soft treat. He's a little overweight but there is no trouble getting up and down steps for this guy! He doesn't tell you when he needs to go out, but he can hold it for 10 hours with no issue and has done well on a schedule. He lives with a big lab now, and while he likes to keep his space, they get along ok. Pepe would prefer canine companions that are his size – or, he'd LOVE to the in a home where he could be spoiled solo. He LOVES to roll in the grass and snow and his second favorite thing to do is go for walks. No pulling for this guy, he does well on a leash and stays close He is a little skittish when other dogs bark while out walking, but that doesn't stop him from exploring. He is also excellent with the resident cat and has even tried to play! He has been shy around new people so a home with older considerate kids are recommended. He likes to make the first step in introducing himself to you, and then will quickly cuddle!  He is a super little guy once he has trust in you and has learned that he will be ok. He has such a fun personality and lots of charm! He is crate trained and goes in to sleep with the door open. He's known to be pretty quiet and will only bark when he gets excited.  

• Favorite thing to do in the house: Cuddle! He loves to cuddle sit/lay next to you. Once he is comfortable with you, he will seek out attention and sit so that he can be touching you. Otherwise, loves chewing bully sticks.


• He likes: Bully sticks, treats, attention, cuddling, and having physical contact with his people.


• He hates: Anything he is forced to do. If you try to force him into a crate, he can get nippy. His foster has been working on this with help from a trainer.


• How would his/her perfect day go? Spending it with the ones he lives with, be it people or other pets. He just enjoys companionship. A good walk and some time spent outside sniffing the wind is his thing! Toss him a bully stick and a dog bed and he’s pretty content.
